Enhanced Income
The High Income product is a conservative investment mandate seeking capital protection, the generation of a high current income and, secondarily, long-term growth of capital. Relative to a balanced mandate, it has a higher emphasis on both the protection of the capital and the generation of income.
The investment performance objective of the High Income Portfolio is to surpass over time the average return of the S&P/TSX Composite Index, the broad Canadian equity benchmark, and the return of the Universe Bond Index, the most recognized bond index in Canada (formerly Scotia Capital Universe Index). Other objectives include yielding a current income equal or superior to the yield-to-maturity of 10-year Government of Canada bonds, as well as outperforming on a total return basis the median return of ordinary balanced products.
The High Income product invests in money market instruments, bonds, income trusts, and dividend paying Canadian and American equities and foreign ADRs.
